In addition to providing financial or material support for independent researchers to conduct or publish their research, the BTER Foundation also conducts its own research within the organization (“intramural”), through collaborations (“teams”) with other researchers, and by providing grants to others (“extramural”) to perform the investigations. Intramural and collaborative research projects currently underway, or recently completed but not yet published, include:
- Methods for Relieving Maggot Therapy-Associated Wound Pain
- Effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) on Medicinal Maggots
- Efficacy and safety of “Doctor Fish” (ichthyotherapy)
- New applications for leech therapy (hirudotherapy)
Further details and updates about these studies will be posted over the coming weeks, once other elements of the website are updated.
Interested persons can contact the Foundation for more information.
